Edwardian Davenport Desk

Add character to your home or office with this elegant antique Edwardian mahogany Davenport desk with ample storage to hide away your personal office, paperwork or stationery.

Featuring leather inlay, inclined lifting desktop attached with hinges, the desktop lifts to access a large compartment with storage space traditionally used for paper and other writing implements. In addition there are three drawers on one of its sides.

Extremely popular in the 19th century, this desk owes its name to a Captain Davenport who was the first to commission the design, from Gillows of Lancaster, near the end of the 18th century and could be considered to be a campaign desk.
